Job Overview

VinMotion is pioneering the next generation of AI-driven humanoid robotics to address global labor shortages and redefine human–machine collaboration. A critical component of this vision is AI Communication—enabling humanoid robots to naturally understand, interact, and collaborate with humans through speech, language, vision, emotion, and context.
VinMotion USA is seeking a visionary Head of AI Communication to lead the development of intelligent, multimodal communication systems for humanoid robots. This role focuses on Natural Language Understanding & Generation (NLU/NLG), Large Language Models (LLMs), multimodal perception, social interaction, and human–robot communication intelligence, enabling robots to communicate in a human-like, safe, and context-aware manner.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Vision
• Define and execute the long-term AI Communication roadmap, aligned with VinMotion’s humanoid product strategy and global vision.
• Drive innovation in LLM-powered communication, multimodal interaction, conversational AI, and social intelligence for humanoid robots.
• Establish architectural principles for scalable, real-time, and safe AI communication systems.
• Identify emerging trends in AI communication, HRI, and embodied AI, translating research into deployable products.
AI Research & Development
• Lead the design and development of speech, language, and multimodal AI systems, including:
• Natural Language Understanding (NLU)
• Natural Language Generation (NLG)
• Dialogue management and long-term memory
• Multimodal reasoning (speech, vision, gestures, context, emotion)
• Integrate Large Language Models (LLMs) with perception, motion, and task-planning systems to enable embodied intelligence.
• Develop real-time, low-latency communication pipelines suitable for on-device and edge deployment.
• Advance human-robot interaction (HRI) capabilities, including intent recognition, social cues, emotion-aware responses, and adaptive communication styles.
• Apply Sim2Real and data-driven learning to continuously improve communication robustness in real-world environments.
Leadership & Team Development
• Build, lead, and mentor a world-class AI Communication team, including experts in NLP, speech, multimodal AI, and HRI.
• Foster a culture of research excellence, rapid experimentation, and product-oriented innovation.
• Collaborate closely with AI Motion, AI Manipulation, Vision, Control, Product, and Hardware teams to deliver seamless humanoid interaction experiences.
Safety, Ethics & Risk Management
• Ensure AI communication systems adhere to AI safety, ethics, privacy, and human-robot interaction standards.
• Design safeguards to prevent hallucinations, unsafe instructions, or harmful interactions in real-world deployment.
• Develop robust fallback, monitoring, and validation mechanisms for conversational and decision-making AI.
Stakeholder Engagement & External Representation
• Serve as the AI Communication ambassador for VinMotion, presenting strategy, demos, and research to executives, partners, and investors.
• Work with product, design, and business teams to translate AI communication capabilities into user-facing value.
• Represent VinMotion at top-tier AI, NLP, Robotics, and HRI conferences and industry forums.

Qualifications & Experience

Education
• Master’s or Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Robotics, Cognitive Science, Computational Linguistics, or a related field.

Experience
1. 10+ years of experience in AI, NLP, conversational AI, or embodied AI, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
2. Proven track record in building and deploying AI communication systems in robotics, AI assistants, or interactive agents.
3. Experience working with LLMs in embodied or real-time systems is strongly preferred.

Technical Expertise
• Deep expertise in one or more of the following areas:
• Large Language Models (LLMs), Conversational AI, Dialogue Systems
• Multimodal AI (language, vision, speech, gestures)
• Human–Robot Interaction (HRI) and social intelligence
• Proficiency in Python, C++, and AI frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow.
• Experience with robotics and real-time systems (e.g., ROS, simulation environments).
• Hands-on experience with edge AI or on-device inference optimization is a strong plus.
